People's Health Clinic   Park City, Utah

The People's Health Clinic provides primary health care, education, and support to uninsured patients in Summit and Wasatch counties in Utah. The focus is on prevention and maintenance.

The Whitney Foundation funds bilingual educator Dr. Martha Johnson, who teaches a weekly OB orientation class. Many topics are covered, including anatomy, making healthy choices, family planning, and self esteem. The classes offer bilingual reading material and support to new patients. Many of these women are seeing a doctor for the first time in their lives. The People's Health Clinic understands that prenatal education is key to a successful pregnancy.

The clinic operates primarily with donations, grants, and volunteers. The Whitney Foundation is pleased to be a part of that support.

Here are some quotes from participants of the People's Health Clinic:

"I was a prenatal patient at the Clinic 2 years ago and I am going to have another baby.  If the Clinic had not been here for my last baby, I would probably not have gone for any appointments before I delivered.  When I started having contractions, I would have just gone to the Park city Clinic or the Hospital ER.  The doctor here took good care of me and I like the Clinic - it's a lot bigger than the last building it was in.
The prenatal class is good.  I've learned a lot about how to eat well for me and the baby.  I liked seeing the pictures of how the baby is inside of me.
I want to thank those people who give money to the Clinic.  If it weren't here, the community would not be cared for." - Lorena Betancul

"I was here for my first baby 2 1/2 years ago and I am due again in November.  This is a really nice clinic.  I went to a women's clinic in Salt Lake for an ultrasound, and it cost so much money - $110.  Then they didn't even tell me the baby's gender or when I was due.  It seemed like I paid a lot and didn't get very much out of it.  Here you feel like you are really being cared for; the communication is really good with the doctors and the staff.
The last time I was here, taking the prenatal class, there were small pictures of the anatomy.  Now the teacher has these big poster boards and you can really see it all.
I'm really happy the Clinic is here.  If it weren't here, I would probably just go for one or two appointments before I delivered.  It's just so expensive to go to the doctor. Thanks to everyone who funds this Clinic." -Yesica Hunda
